Telia, together with Swedish regional public transport company Skånetrafiken and ticketing solutions company Ridango, have been nominated to win one of the categories in the Global Transport Ticketing Awards. The nomination is for “Blippa”, the first contactless ticket payment solution in the Nordics.
“This nomination is a fantastic acknowledgement of the joint effort to implement a great ticketing solution, by Telia, Skånetrafiken and Ridango. Buying tickets should never be an obstacle to using public transport, and this solution makes it easier for passengers to choose public transport,” says Björn Hansen, Head of IoT at Telia Division X.
“Blippa” is competing in the category “Best Smart Ticketing Programme (200k - 1m Daily Journeys). The awards event will be the eighth annual edition of its kind, taking place during the Transport Ticketing Digital Summit – the world’s largest digital event for the public transport and mobility ticketing community. The purpose is to acknowledge innovative solutions and collaborative efforts in ticketing, worldwide. The winners will be announced on June 23.
“Blippa” was launched in the Skåne region of Sweden in December 2019. The solution is part of Telia’s Smart Public Transport Offering. It enables passengers to purchase tickets with a contactless bank card directly from a validator.
