In 2019, Neste was named the 3rd most sustainable company in world in the Corporate Knights Global 100. They did this with a combination of clean energy initiatives and innovation. Underlying it, is their acknowledgement that the way we power our lives and industries needs to change. And to successfully navigate this change, they have chosen to lead from the front. 

To offer their commercial transport operators greater value, together we set out to develop a digital platform. By connecting vehicles, we aimed to make them more fuel efficient and safer — while providing optimization tools at a fleet management level. 

Building a digital platform from the ground requires new kinds of capabilities — which is why Neste partnered with Telia to create the solution.

EVERYTHING ON ONE SCREEN

Neste built an onboard solution on top of the Telia Connected Vehicle platform. This consolidates all onboard IT systems to give drivers real-time feedback and enable fleet management on a granular level.

Real-time feedback enables drivers to drive in a more environmentally-friendly and fuel-efficient way. The Eco-Driving function alone can deliver up to 15% fuel savings.

Consolidated onboard systems put everything drivers need onto one display. This reduces operational complexity and distractions – and that means safer driving.

Communications you can count on come from combining onboard WiFi & messaging with Telia’s digital infrastructure.

Real-time fleet management gives operators the tools they need to fine-tune their operation. Vehicle positioning and driver ID enable fleet and route optimization. Remote tachograph makes it easy to comply with regulations while ensuring drivers take their breaks and protect their safety.

A PLATFORM TO BUILD ON

Telia Connected Vehicle is brand-neutral and works in any vehicle. And because it’s an open API based platform, operators can integrate their own and third party applications. 

Neste’s Mobile Refuelling solution is a great example. It digitalises the fuel purchasing flow, from pump to payment, via the Neste app on the driver’s phone. No cash. No cards. No fuel unaccounted for.
