Telco can help reduce carbon emissions by ten times its own footprint according to the GSMA
As the UN Climate Conference (COP25) draws to a close in Madrid, Spain, the GSMA report highlights one of the key reasons why Telia Company decided in March this year to embark on the road to zero CO2 with the Daring Goals. test
“The report confirms what we have known for years: the potential to make a real difference in reducing global CO2 emissions through our core business. Through our IoT, crowd insights and cloud services, we are increasingly enabling emission reductions related to energy, infrastructure, transportation etc. The coming years we will accelerate this positive impact while reducing emissions in our own operations and supply,” says Sara Nordbrand, Telia Company's Head of Sustainability.
To limit global warming to maximum 1,5 degrees, consumers, corporations and countries need to work together, and world leaders must increase their ambitions and achieve results on summits such as COP25.
“Regardless of what comes out of the climate conference, we have a very important part to play and there are many good initiatives in the pipeline for 2020,” says Sara Nordbrand.
