Telia's solution Global IoT Connectivity has been named as a finalist in the "Outstanding Use Case: Innovative IoT" category of the 2022 Leading Lights Awards, a global communications industry awards program run by independent B2B digital media platform Light Reading. The awards recognize the industry's top companies’ “outstanding achievements in next-generation communications technology, applications, services, strategies and innovation”.
Telia entered the 2022 Light Reading Leading Lights awards, and shares the nomination, with Kumera, a prominent manufacturer of industrial and marine gearboxes and drives. Kumera needed to set up easy-to-use and cost-effective mobile connections for its gearboxes worldwide, and Telia’s Global IoT Connectivity solution was the perfect fit.
For many businesses, buying IoT connectivity is still a hassle and includes significant investments. In addition, as the number of IoT devices are increasing around the world, more and more operators and governments are introducing regulations on inbound roaming to protect their markets. And so, roaming is becoming less reliable and devices on roaming may quickly become non-compliant.
Telia Global IoT Connectivity is built on four solution layers, which together delivers “hyperscale IoT Connectivity”. Fundamentally, our solution uses GSMA standard eUICC technology, empowering enterprises with a single SIM SKU principle to be embedded in their IoT devices, already at the assembly line. The devices can be connected wherever and whenever shipped. In addition, Telia’s ecosystem of pre-integrated partner operators assures compliant connectivity, even in strictly regulated markets, through SIM localization, activating local profiles whenever needed. Also, and adding real value, is the uniquely built cloud-native network overlay, the APN HUB, aggregating all traffic into the cloud and providing enterprise applications, unprecedented security and connectivity management capabilities.
Finally, we enable the entire solution to be managed and controlled through one single interface.
Today Kumera can manage all their local mobile subscriptions for devices across the world from one single portal.
Hundreds of high-quality entries were submitted for this year's awards across 24 categories. The Leading Lights winners will be announced via an online video on Light Reading on November 18, 2022.
